Have you ever tried a caramel dipped pear? If not, I highly recommend especially if you like the classic caramel dipped apple!
You can customize these however you like, by adding sea salt flakes, white chocolate, dark chocolate, or even sprinkles! I hope you all enjoy! :)
Caramel Dipped Pears:
Yield: 3 Servings
Cook Time: 30 Min
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
- 1 1/3 Cup Corn Syrup
- 1/8 Cup Earth Balance or Butter
- 2 Cups Coconut Cream or Heavy Cream, Divided in Half
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Sea Salt
- 3 Pears, Red Bartlett- Rinsed & Dried
- 1 Tbsp Sea Salt, Garnish
- 1 Tbsp Smoked Sea Salt Flakes, Garnish
Directions:
1. In a large saucepot or Dutch oven, combine the sugar, corn syrup, earth balance or butter, and half the coconut cream/heavy cream. Slowly bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
2.Stir continuously, using a whisk as mixture bubbles, and add the remaining coconut cream.
3.Continue stirring occasionally until mixture reaches 235F. (You can use a candy thermometer or a regular thermometer to check the temperature).
4.Once it hits about 235F, remove the caramel from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
5.Wash and dry the pears with paper towels.
6.Insert a popsicle or lollipop stick into top of each pear. Carefully dip the pears, one by one, into the caramel mixture.
7.Place dipped caramel pears on parchment paper or on a Silpat. Sprinkle with sea salt and smoked sea salt and let set for 10-15 minutes until you serve them, enjoy!
Tips/Tricks:
- Try using leftover caramel to create caramel drops. You can even dip small pieces of fruit, like apple or orange pieces as well.
- If you sprinkle smoked sea salt flakes or even regular sea salts flakes while the caramel is setting, the pears will have more dimension in flavor :)
